Assessment

The Health and Safety (1981) First Aid regulations require you to carry
out a "risk assessment". You have to look at your place of work and make
an assessment as to what risks there are, what illnesses or injuries are
likely within that environment. It is not necessary to make a written
assessment but there should be evidence that you have done an assessment.

The Legal implications of not carrying out an assessment. HSE will not
prosecute you for not carrying an assessment, but the Courts will take it
into consideration when settling any claim or other prosecution.

The legal Implications of First Aid. There are very few implications for
doing first aid, the major implication is for not doing it.

Revision of procedures. Many organisations have badly written, even
incorrect procedures such as consent forms and disclaimer forms. There is
frequently insufficient numbers of first Aiders to meet the legal
requirement. It is a legal requirement to make accident records.

Accident Investigation. When accidents do occur it is very important that
they are adequately investigated to avoid reoccurrence, as repeat
accidents can be very expensive!

Cost £500.00 per day or part thereof, travelling and accommodation
expenses are extra, however any necessary report writing is included.
