Approved by
the Mountain Leader Training Board, the courses are designed to
comply with the "Adventure Activities Licensing Regulations".
These are interactive
and practical courses with the emphasis on understanding the principals
of immediate care for the ill or injured person in the hills and
other remote areas. The balance between practical and theory work
encourages enthusiastic participation. The courses are ratified
by a comprehensive practical examination.

Courses |
|
Basic Emergency
Mountain Care -
A beginners course of 16 hours covering just the facts, to lead
into the following courses and qualifies for an Appointed Person
Certificate. The course is also approved for the M.L.T.B. Summer
and Winter Awards as well as the Single Pitch Award.

Emergency
Mountain Care -
An entry level course of 5 days (32 hours) with First Aid at Work
as the foundation plus hypothermia, triage and basic diagnosis. The
course leads to a First Aid at Work Certificate and an Emergency Mountain
Care Certificate |
Advanced Emergency
Mountain Care -
A second level course of 2 days (16 hours) giving immediate care training
for people holding a First Aid at Work certificate and with some hill
experience. Advanced diagnosis, long term casualty care, hypothermia,
triage, fracture management, analgesia and other subjects specific
to the mountains. |

to ensure that the client obtains a thorough grasp of the skills and
knowledge necessary for Emergency Mountain Care. |
